My sister and her two sons stayed with us Thursday through Saturday and we had a great time with them! Shana was working Thursday and Friday evenings and I planned on watching the boys for her so they just came over and stayed a few days. Thursday we hung out, did sister stuff, and played with all the boys. She left for work that afternoon and Zachary didn't get home until almost nine, so I was stuck at home with three boys under three and two insanely crazy dogs for a few hours. Can I just mention, that is a tough job! Even though the boys were perfect and didn't give me any trouble, it was still some work. Power to the moms who do that every day! Needless to say, I ordered pizza for dinner. Oops.
Friday was about the same as the day before. We hung out all day and got a few things done, but this time when Shana left, Zak got home a few minutes afterwards. I was much relieved! We had a nice dinner, a bunch of play time, and we watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas before bedtime. After Shana got home we put all the boys to bed and caught up on some chitchat. It is so nice having a sister as your best friend. I love being able to talk with her about anything, share stories, and always have her there to listen. Sisters are such a special gift from above!
My darling husband turned 25 on Saturday! 25 is such a milestone age, and I was way excited to spend that birthday with him. We had Zaks birthday cake the night before so that Brayden could have some, but Saturday morning Zak opened his birthday present and cards. This year he got a new camo jacket. He has one already. but it's a cheap thing with a broken zipper so Zaylen and I decided to get him a new one. This one is insulated and waterproof and Zak loved it!! After gifts we spent some time at home before getting ready to go out that night. We left the house and went by a few stores before dropping Zaylen off with my step-step mom Natosha. (My family is super incredibly confusing, but this is my step-dads wife, so kind of like a step-step mom...I think?) Anyways, she watched Zaylen for us that evening so that we could go out and spend some time together. First we went to Carrabba's for dinner. It was amazing! We haven't been there in over a year and it made for a special dinner. Next we went to the movie theater to see Exodus. I was mixed about this movie, but decided to go see it anyways. We saw Noah this past March and it was horrible! There was no mention of God, there were so many details added, and it didn't go along with the Bible at all. So when we saw Exodus being made I kind of had the same feeling, but we heard good reviews on it and heard that it was Biblically based. I also love the story of Moses!!! I watch the animated Prince of Egypt at least 3-4 times a week. A week. This is my favorite Bible story, I love everything about it...so I had to see this film. I will say, it was more Biblically based than Noah was, but it wasn't 100%. There were so many missing pieces and it didn't tell the story correctly. God was depicted as a little boy, Moses had a sword instead of a staff, they crossed the Red Sea because of low tide (it wasn't parted), and I don't want to ruin any more for you if you haven't seen it yet and wish to, there was a lot more wrong with it though. I know scholars and scientists say that we don't know exactly what happened back then, but I disagree. I believe in the Bible, the whole Bible, and what is written in that book is truth. So, it made for a good Hollywood movie, but not a good telling of what really happened. If I could take it back, I would have saved my $20.
It will also be the last time we visit a movie theater period. It's very rare we go to a movie anymore because of how rude people are, I just don't understand how selfish people can be. There was a couple behind us who brought a baby and a toddler with them. The baby cried the entire time and instead of taking him out, the mother saw fit to take him down to the first row and sit. The toddler was also making noise the whole movie. The ladies beside of me were talking to each other most of the movie, and one even had the nerve to answer her cell phone. Not even texting (which she was doing), but answered a call and talked for a while. Another lady in front of us texted during the entire film. Plus we had commentators who said something every time anyone in the movie said something. When Moses and Pharroh talked, when the plagues came, when they crossed the sea, when anything happened all we heard was, "Oh gosh" "No he didn't" "Man he need to shut up" "Get out"....The list goes on and on and on and on. I was so irritated when we left the theater it just about ruined my whole day. I was steaming! So, if you're going to pay $10 to see a film, please be courteous and respectful to yourself and others who paid the same price. Whewww I needed that vent. Thank you for taking the time to listen.
After the movie we picked Zaylen up and went home to get some sleep. Other than the irritation at the theater, we had a wonderful day celebrating the life of Zak. He is such an amazing husband and father and Zaylen and I are very blessed to call him ours and to have another year with him!!
This morning I slept in until after 10, and Zaylen woke up at 11, we were worn out! Zachary had gone to the gym, but once he got home we took a trip to the Farmers Market since we missed going the day before. From there Zak went to Brenners Childresn Hospital to visit one of his kids who got hurt this past week, and Zaylen and I came home to work on cleaning. My house has been poorly neglected lately. I'm not trying to make excuses, however I have been extremely busy these last few weeks and the house has been the last thing on my list. And that's my excuse. Zachary came home later and we had a pretty normal evening; dinner, playtime, nighttime for Zaylen, and grownup time for us. And now I have my alone time, such a rare and special time for me. I almost thought of taking a bath, but I knew I had to write something and I'm pretty tired, so the bath will wait for another day.
I hope you all had a great weekend filled with cherished memories!!
